A very new Ram varsity girls basketball team debuted in the middle school gym Tuesday night for the season opener against PCM (Monroe). New head coach Dean Lyons had five new starters on the floor. The Rams lost 38-24 to a more experienced Mustang team.
Three returning Mustangs, Kayla Jennings, Katie Vande Wall and Jayci Vos combined for 27 of the Mustangs’ points.
Greene County was led in scoring by reserve junior Taylor Wessling with eight points. She scored the Rams’ only 3-point shot. Sophomore Laurin Lyons had six points. The Rams were eight of 33 from the field and seven of 10 from the foul line.
The Rams had 27 turnovers for the game while the Mustangs had 23.
